Washington, Oregon, and Idaho TRIP...AWESOME!

Garvin and I made a long awaited trip...
to finally get together with Garvin's side of the family...
It has been "16" years since he and his brothers have seen each other...
It all began when Garvin's step-mother, Marj, was turning
"80" years old on July 7th...When, Forest, Marj's husband contacted the "3" boys...
to come to Albany, Oregon...to help celebrate this milestone...
plans went into action...
However, in the blessing of coming together with Garvin's family,
I was able to see BOTH of my brothers, Steve, who lives in Sandy, Oregon, and Scott,
who lives in Post Falls, Idaho...PLUS, I was able to see one of my "adoptive" mothers...
who played a major role in me...coming into the church...Ellen Wilfley, who
now lives in Eagle Creek, Oregon...

This will be PART 1
Beginning with our leaving LATE Thursday afternoon on July 5th...
We headed for YAKIMA, Washington where Greg, Garvin's OLDEST BROTHER, lives...
We had quite a surprise...when we arrived late that night...

FOR MY CHILDREN (except Angel who got to visit them not that long ago)) ---
who have never been to their
Uncle Greg or Aunt Liz's home...
Here are the pictures I took of their BEAUTIFUL 7-Acre OASIS...
They have lived here for over 30 years...planted every TREE and flower...
including the fact that GREG BUILT his OWN HOME!
LOVED IT!

You may be wondering why I posted BURNT trees... in their back yard...
It just so happened...BEFORE WE GOT THERE...a neighbor...who lives
at the BOTTOM of the HILL from their home...accidentally set the dry GRASS on FIRE
and it RACED UP the HILL toward their "wood" home...
Greg wasn't home, but another neighbor saw the fire moving super fast up the hill
toward Greg/Liz's home...got the fire department out quickly...and tried to save their home...
Everyone thought their home was TOAST...but, a mighty divine hand...
diverted the FIRE AROUND their home...
Though, they lost trees and sections of their yard was burnt...
plus burnt holes in their patio furniture (umbrella)...
the house was untouched...

Other section of their back yard area - burnt...

Fire went AROUND the playhouse Greg build
for their daughter, Holly...

You can see how close the fire came...by looking at the tree
to the left...BACK YARD...area...

 Front Yard...
(they are in the process of RESTAINING their home)
(hence the two shades...) (smile)

They have worked so hard...over their property...and have created
such a "haven"...JUST BEAUTIFUL...

Garden shed...willow trees...

 Beautiful pond...

Orchard...

Another view of the pond...and garden shed...

Beautiful flowers...

They came up with lots of creative ideas...building their flower beds
around odds and ends...

Clematis wrapped around old wooden wheel...

View from the back...Their home sits on a hillside
over looking part of the valley...

 Another section of their yard...

Can see that it is on a hill...better in this picture...

I had many more pictures...(nearly 40) but, only put up a few of them...
Will end on two more...
and will post other moments on this trip...
over a period of days...

Loved how this picture turn out...

And of course...I am ending on a very PATRIOTIC NOTE!
(smile)

LOVE IT!

Ah....Summer Projects...

With the weather being so awesome...It is time
for all kinds of cool projects
for OUTSIDE! YAHOO!

For Father's Day...Garvin bought a MITER SAW!
Couldn't pass up this super sale - $100.00
off the retail price! (smile)
He has wanted one for so long...
and when this deal came up...
well, it was a done deal!

What is so awesome about his FATHER'S DAY GIFT...
I get most of the benefits...Yep!

 Garvin and his NEW TOY

His new toy!

Always good to read the directions!
(smile)

Now, comes the important part...
Reading the directions to make
MAMA A BOX!
Not just any box...mind you!

 The man at work...
See the sawdust? Cool, huh?

Garvin was LOVING how much EASIER it was
to do this cool project for me!

The master craftsman!

Finished! I LOVE IT!

Verbena and Silver Fog - Euphorbia
to BRING IN the BUTTERFLIES...
 The box will FILL in...

In between many of my other boxes...
herbs mostly...

We, also, managed to plow and disc up
a piece of the pasture...and
transplanted "17" RASPBERRY starts...
In about 3 years...we should have a GREAT
start on our RASPBERRY PATCH!
The other 20 or so...are getting well
establish...and we should have
MORE BERRIES this year!
YUM!

LASTLY...I made these "Bran Muffins"...
Haven't made them in YEARS!
I always TWEEK a recipe...
and these turned out FABULOUS!
THE BEST!

Had raisins and dates in them...
small amount of honey
and two secret incredients...
that made them so
YUMMY!

A Walk With Nature - Just Out Our Front Door

It all began this morning when your dad ran in
our bedroom wanting to use my NEW
camera...THAT GOT me OUT OF BED!

And so...this set the tone of my day...when I decided
I needed this day...among NATURE...
and all I needed to do...was walk out
our FRONT DOOR...

Let's begin...with
"A Morning Breaks"

Lots of low fog...
and the horizon was just waking up...

Nothing like the crack of dawn...

Even the "Boys" were up...and ready
to eat!
L to R: Salt, Sirloin, and Pepper

Low clouds...fog...and our mountains
highlighted out from our FRONT
yard...

FIRE! That BALL in the sky...

After this awakening...I decided I needed to be
among nature...for the rest of he
morning...I was so GREATLY
rewarded...

Take a stroll with me...among my flowers...and other
little friends...

My little friend...always peeking to see what
is coming up next...

I had to smile when I saw this Iceland poppy
snuggling up against some of my violas...

I have LOVE violas...and have a variety of colors...
mixed with a few "forget-me-nots" that ae PINK...
with some blue flax and a few pansies...

Still water drops on many plants...and they
actually were "sparkling" rainbow colors...
but, will one day figure out how to
best...get shots like that with my
NEW camera...(smile)

I absolutely love Daisy like flowers, which
include my "Happy Flower" - cosmos
These are daisies...

My "Happy Flowers" - Cosmos
are just working up to blooming...
It still has been a bit cool...
I bought a few already "grown up"...
but, my "seedlings" are just now
poking their little selves out of the ground...

Aren't they BEAUTIFUL!

Such a VARIETY!

Cosmos and other complimentary flowers

My little Robin friend...was curious why
I was taking his picture...

This little bee was busying gathering
on my "Chive" blossoms

This little guy was saying
"good morning"!

One of my most fun things I like to do
is observe the birds who come
to my bird bath...
I use it to put their food into it...

Well, by now, you probably wish
I would end this post...
but, hope you enjoyed your little
stroll through my garden...
oh wait...

I didn't want to forget my
little "rose"...and pink "Baby's Breath"...

Hey...another look at one of the
arrangements that I worked on...in
the AWESOME boxes Garvin
built for me!

OK...my last one...though
I have more...

Taking Logan Out to Dinner

The night before Rebekah and Logan headed back
home to Utah, we all went out to dinner...
We all LOVE Mexican food, so we went to
Los Caporales in Kalispell, Montana...

However, Logan is now at the point that he
wants to FEED himself...without
any adult help...

Here are the results:

Hmmm

Very PLEASED with himself!

One of the waitresses LOVED Logan...
so she made him a special
"dessert"...
Some type of Mexican bread/sweet
with whipped cream and chocolate

It really is good...

Not certain if most of it Logan ended up
wearing it...or got into his little
tummy...
