 Jackson's reaction to Becky Richins' little dog...

PROJECTS: #2 and #3

Garvin had started a "list" entitled:

"Rick Miller"...

On this "list" were all the PROJECTS we would

involve these dear friends...

So, here is an INCOMPLETE 

Project #2

 There was a "drain" placed near our

basement backdoor...to help any additional 

runoffs from snow or rain...The previous

owner of this house, got FLOODED TWICE...

Our other neighbor, helped the precious owner put in

a "DRAIN"...Garvin hunted down...where the

water went...and found the pipe in our field, BUT,

it was plugged up, etc.

So, Garvin dug out a bigger hole...

cleaned out the mouse nests...

but, wanted to maintain an opening...without 

stuff plugging up the drain pipe...

so...after much pondering...

here is the basic idea...of the "solution"...

60 lb. bags of cement...when wet...

making a cement WALL...

Clever, huh...

 They do this sort of thing in other places...

hopefully...it will work for us...

PROJECT #2

 This is a NOT FUN project...

REMOVING all the blasted "rocks"...

that made "flower beds"?????

Fran discovered...this "Spider and the Fly"...

Remember that little poem?

Interesting story behind this poem...

The Spider and the Fly is a poem by Mary Howitt (1799-1888), published in 1829. The first line of the poem is "'Will you walk into my parlour?' said the Spider to the Fly." The story tells of a cunning Spider who ensnares a naive Fly through the use of seduction and flattery. The poem is a cautionary tale against those who use flattery and charm to disguise their true evil intentions.

Today, we begin PROJECT #3...

 

New PROJECT #1

Rick and Fran Miller came to Idaho

from their home in MISSOURI...to help us with a few

projects around the house...

How many people would do that?

 

PROJECT #1

We had a tree...near our home...a blasted "cotton wood" tree...

that if it fell...it looked like it would most likely

fall upon the house...

SO....we knew it had to COME DOWN...

 Much discussion...

 The tree to be cut down...

 Fran...much to be concerned about...

as you will be able to discern

by the next few photos...

 

 Lots of prayers going on... 

watching these two...

 Our neighbor, Dave, a

former FOREST FIRE

FIGHTER...having cut

many a tree...

came over with his 

wife, Denice...

to lend a hand...

but, soon learned...

to step back...

and let Rick and 

Garvin work out the

details...

 Big Nest - Just hoping nothing

was in it...

 Better view of the size of the tree...

 Garvin used his truck and pulled on the

cable that was attached to the tree...

Falling....

ALMOST to the GROUND...

 Perfect landing...didn't hurt

the fence, either...

 Nest crushed...concern if there had 

been anything in it...

 There was a nest within a nest...but...

nothing was in it...thank goodness...

 Nice "sitting" spot, now...smile

EVERYONE ONE did their part...

 FINISHED!

"Homemade" Built-in Bookshelves

Garvin really is quite amazing...in his skills...

He has never done a project like this before...

His first BUILT-IN Bookshelf project!

However, he had GUIDANCE...all the way till the end...

Awesome...having a brother who is a CARPENTER...and so

willing to give "free" advice!

So...here in pictures...Garvin's masterpiece...

These built-in book shelves... in HIS

almost completed office...

IN THE BEGINNING...there was space there...

 

There were many "angles"...

 

On the "unknown # day" He placed "tractors" there...

 

and....he placed..."cows" there...

and left his "mess" there...

ah...NOT!

 

and on the "umteenth" day...

It was "FINISHED"...

and he was pleased...

 

STATE FAIR - Idaho

One of my very FONDEST memories growing up...

was my Grandfather (Peterson) would take my brother, Steve,

and I to the California STATE FAIR! He would make us go through

all the BUILDINGS, before taking us to the MID-WAY

where all the RIDES were actively in motion...Of course, we hounded him from 

building to building...that we wanted to go on the RIDES... Grandpa!!!

He never gave in...smile

This year, we went to the fair with Luke and Sarah with

all the grandchildren in tow...It was so fun watching THEM experience

much of what the fair had to offer...

On my camera, there were over 100 pictures taken...

I am going to break up the posts...into

activities...I deleted some pictures...but, will 

post some of the best shots of the day...

 It was so good to see Joseph having a good time

This was a rare type cow...had soft fur...

Garvin had to have the kids get in that bucket...
