SPRING is HERE...and God is Whispering...There IS Beauty...ALL AROUND.....

14 May 2016

Love of nature is akin to the love of God, the two are inseparable." (President Joseph F. Smith -Juvenile Instructor, April 1918, p. 182-3)

My Alpine poppies...
I grow SEVERAL different variety of poppies...
My Alpine and Iceland poppies are the first to bloom in Spring...
Later in the year...you will see so many more of the other
varieties that I grow...I can hardly wait...to see ALL in BLOOM!

My gardens have been my own private little world...I believe...for many of us who LOVE to GARDEN and to CONNECT with DIRT...we truly witness...God's hand in His creative abilities...

I find that gardens of ALL varieties...ENRICH my soul...It temporarily saves me from the ugliness of the "world"...and keeps me grounded...in knowing there is
a LOVING God...who is the ESSENCE of pure BEAUTY...

I begin my GARDEN JOURNEY 2016...with some of my
first pictures taken from my own private garden...
This is just the beginning...
The sun...is warming up...but, we are still experiencing setbacks...
when she hides her face...and the brisk moments of winter...
still raises up his frosty breath...hindering...
many of my little beauties from rising up
to its full potential...

In a book that darling Annie gave me for Mother's Day..."The Meaning of Flowers" -
By: Stephanie Schwartz
She wrote the following on the
"POPPY"

Meaning: Imagination - RED: Pleasure - WHITE: Consolation

"Showy flowers boast paperlike petals around dark centers in early summer"
"Poppies have long been a symbol of sleep, perhaps because one species, Papaver somniferum, is the source of opium.  In "The Wizard of Oz", Dorothy and her friends wander through a poppy field and almost fall into a permanent sleep."

"The poppy is associated with Remembrance Day, November 11, honoring the soldiers who perished in World War I.  The WWI battlefields of Flanders and northern France were covered with poppies, because the flowers grow where the soil has been disturbed."

and....so my journey for 2016...begins...

The Day Our Brother Bob....Became an Elder...

Garvin and Bob
2 August 2014

This picture was our LAST picture we had of Bob, when he came to visit us here in Idaho...This picture, also, reflects the friendship/brotherhood
that Bob and Garvin forged over the years...

After Bob had graduated from this mortality...
all of us who gathered in Florida to celebrate Bob's life...
decided that Garvin should be the one to do
Bob's temple work...a year later...

The day came...14 April 2016...
in the Orlando Florida Temple...We began at 8:30 in the morning...
and finished a few hours later...

"8" of us...were able to make it to the temple...
though, I know, many of you...were there in spirit...
L to R: Jared and Angel - Garvin and I
Joel and Rebekah - Brenda and Marvin

Baptism:
Garvin always said that he would BAPTIZE Bob one day...
So, Garvin did! He BAPTIZED Marvin as proxy for Bob...and
was confirmed for him as well...
Jared and Joel were the WITNESSES.
In a conversation I had with Brenda, I thought it would be great
if we did Bob's parents' work as well...We did!
I was baptized for Bob's mother and confirmed and Marvin
was proxy for Bob's father.
What was so neat... all the confirmations were done
on the entry into the baptismal font.
Marvin and I were soaken wet...but, thrilled...that ALL could see it done.
Brenda, Rebekah, and Angel got to witness all the confirmations.
SKIP MEERDINK greeted us...OH...the love that was
exchanged between him and our family!  Dear dear friend...

Initiatory:
Garvin did both Bob's and Bob's father...
Brenda did her grandmother's - Bob's mother...

Bob ordained an Elder:
This was the most touching/emotional moment for Garvin...when he realized...
Bob now held the Priesthood...and was ordained an ELDER...

Endowment Session:
Garvin was proxy for Bob...
Brenda was proxy for her grandmother...
Marvin was proxy for Bob's father...
Joel was proxy for my gg uncle...Anders Kaagaard
My grandmother, Dorothy Jensen Peterson's sister - Ane Marie Jensen's husband
I was proxy for my gg aunt...Ester Cristensen
My grandmother, Dorothy Jensen Peterson's brother - Alfred's wife...
Jared and Angel were the "witness couple"...
Kim Little was the "officiator"
(loved having someone we knew well...officiating for us that day)

Sealing Session:
Bob's parents were sealed together...
Marvin and Brenda were proxy for her grandparents...
Bob was sealed to his parents - Garvin was proxy for Bob...
Garvin and I were proxy for the sealings of my gg uncles and aunts:
Danish side of the family:
Alfred Christian Jensen and Ester Cristensen
Anders Kaagaard and Ane Marie Jensen

We took more pictures outside...LOVELY DAY!

Kim Little and Garvin in conversation...
not paying the least attention...to Bekah and Joel...
smile

Love this picture of Jared and Angel...

Great picture of Joel and Rebekah...

Brenda checking in on how the children
were doing...but, this really is a very nice picture
of Marvin and Brenda...smile

The BEAUTIFUL grounds at the
Orlando Florida Temple...

I asked Garvin what other impressions he got while he and Bob
were so closely knitted on this day...Garvin said he kept thinking
about Bob's cousin, Jimmy...and that Bob must be doing
his "missionary" work...
