Love of nature is akin to the love of
God, the two are inseparable." (President Joseph F. Smith -Juvenile Instructor, April 1918, p. 182-3)
My Alpine poppies...
I grow SEVERAL different variety of poppies...
My Alpine and Iceland poppies are the first to bloom in Spring...
Later in the year...you will see so many more of the other
varieties that I grow...I can hardly wait...to see ALL in BLOOM!
My gardens have been my own private little world...I believe...for many of us who LOVE to GARDEN and to CONNECT with DIRT...we truly witness...God's hand in His creative abilities...
I find that gardens of ALL varieties...ENRICH my soul...It temporarily saves me from the ugliness of the "world"...and keeps me grounded...in knowing there is
a LOVING God...who is the ESSENCE of pure BEAUTY...
I begin my GARDEN JOURNEY 2016...with some of my
first pictures taken from my own private garden...
This is just the beginning...
The sun...is warming up...but, we are still experiencing setbacks...
when she hides her face...and the brisk moments of winter...
still raises up his frosty breath...hindering...
many of my little beauties from rising up
to its full potential...
In a book that darling Annie gave me for Mother's Day..."The Meaning of Flowers" -
By: Stephanie Schwartz
She wrote the following on the
"POPPY"
Meaning: Imagination - RED: Pleasure - WHITE: Consolation
"Showy flowers boast paperlike petals around dark centers in early summer"
"Poppies have long been a symbol of sleep, perhaps because one species, Papaver somniferum, is the source of opium. In "The Wizard of Oz", Dorothy and her friends wander through a poppy field and almost fall into a permanent sleep."
"The poppy is associated with Remembrance Day, November 11, honoring the soldiers who perished in World War I. The WWI battlefields of Flanders and northern France were covered with poppies, because the flowers grow where the soil has been disturbed."
and....so my journey for 2016...begins...
