What Do You Do When You Become "Empty Nesters"?

Garvin decided that today...we would go for a drive...
We didn't need to worry or think about
leaving anyone home...so, we simply...took off!
After 33 years...it was rather "liberating"!
(smile)
Garvin wanted to drive to Eureka...swing over in a loop...
and hit Libby...and then, come home through
Marion and Kila...

We had SO MUCH FUN! We took the jeep, since, the predictions
of snow...today...could have been a problem for the Lincoln...

Of course, I had my camera...Garvin promised me...that if I saw
something interesting...he would be willing to STOP
the car...back up if he had to...etc.
I can not begin to tell you how many times that happened!
(smile)

We had LUNCH in Eureka...and talked to some of the people there...
Went into small shops and such...The town no longer has
any industry...now that the logging companies had to
shut down...Eureka is only about 8 miles from
the Canadian border...where much of their income comes
from the Canadians...because the prices of goods
are so much cheaper here in the United States...

Here are some of the fun pictures I took:

Ice Fishing...
One of the lakes between Kalispell and Eureka
Wonder what they would have done
if they fell through the ice...
Long way from the shore!

Grave Creek
Many beautiful streams along the way...

Another view...

Got to LOVE the Spirit of MONTANA!

Interesting names for streets, also...
(smile)

I took several pictures of this lake...Only going to post one
more...Here is the incredible information on this lake...
You will understand...why I won't post
all of my pictures...(smile)

In the very northwest corner of Montana and into British Columbia lies the 93-mile long Lake Koocanusa in the state's famous Kootenai National Forest. Created for travelers, Lake Koocanusa Scenic Byway provides easy access to a variety of recreation, nature appreciation, and sightseeing opportunities along its 67 miles. From boating and fishing on the lake to camping and hiking in the forests, Lake Koocanusa Scenic Byway provides something for every outdoor lover.

Loved the reflection off the water...

Another creek...going into Lake Koocanusa

Some of the Rock Walls along the Highway

Frozen waterfalls

Love NATURE!

Libby - City of Eagles

Many of the lakes look like this right now...
I think this is Lake McGregor
Between Libby and Kila - not too far from home...

Got to love the attitude of those who LOVE FREEDOM!
Sign on PRIVATE PROPERTY!
(smile)

Came home...stoked up the fire
in the wood stove...

Garvin and his new found friends
that he got at a Thrift Store in Eureka!
"Yellow Heart" and "Yellow Heart, Jr."
plus...well...didn't name him...yet...
Yeah...cows INSIDE as well as OUTSIDE...

And I found two more outfits
for my future "granddaughter" or
"granddaughters"

Put God First!

When we put God first, all other things fall into their proper place or drop out of our lives. Our love of the Lord will govern the claims for our affection, the demands on our time, the interests we pursue, and the order of our priorities. - President Ezra Taft Benson, General Conference April 1988

Pre-Christmas - 2011

I admit...I am a bit BEHIND in getting up our
Christmas pictures...
However, I have so many that I am going to do them
in parts...
These pictures were taken before Christmas Eve...
Joel, Rebekah, and Logan came up on the
21st of December...
We had some ONE-TO-ONE time with them...
We all got to ENJOY our TIME OUT...
Took it really easy...read...played games...ATE...
and just had fun...

I asked Garvin to build a railing around the wood stove...
I knew that little Logan would find the stove
fascinating...and I just didn't want him to get burn...
Worked super well...cause Logan would go
over to the railing and stand, etc.

You have got to love this little face!

Papa and Logan getting acquainted

Logan --- "Are you kidding me?"

Logan - "This wasn't as good as he said it would be..."

Logan LOVED the Blender...
Ah...the fascination to explore...

Ah...such "treasures"

Logan couldn't decide WHAT HE WANTED to READ...
so, he went through MANY BOOKS...
while he was visiting...
LOVED the library...

Just checking out his Christmas stocking...
making sure there wasn't any
"coal" in it...yet...

After a day of exploring...Logan was all tuckered out...
Good thing...he didn't know how he looked
with that pacifier that Papa got him!

Hyrum's Last Hour Before Going Into the MTC

There were some great pictures taken of Hyrum
a couple of hours before he entered the MTC...
Randy and Marilyn Oveson took Hyrum and his sisters out to lunch
at Lars' favorite Mexican food place...
I have been scrapbooking these pictures...
and thought you might like to see
them, also...
I didn't put these on his MISSIONARY BLOG...
thought it belonged more on the
FAMILY BLOG!
(smile)

Ah...SISTERS....
(smile)

Angel and Rebekah...
Hyrum bracing...himself...

What "baby brothers" have to deal with!

 Angel, Hyrum, and Rebekah

Hyrum has it all under control...
Bekah loves to TEASE!
Baby Logan looking to see if anyone will notice
his plan of escape...

Wonder what was said to Hyrum...
OK...then there are "brother-in-laws"
to contend with...
"Joel" holding Logan...

Our FIRST Walk of the YEAR!

OK...this may come as a shock to some of you...
but, Garvin asked me if I would like to go up to this trail
not far from our home...and go "for a walk"...

My...we are starting out this NEW YEAR...on the
"right footing"!
(smile)
However, he could have asked me on a BEAUTIFUL SPRING
afternoon ... but..... decided to begin this new
"adventure" in the WINTER - with temperatures
in the low 30's...
But, I am NOT COMPLAINING!
Just next time...I will PREPARE BETTER
and put on MUCH WARMER clothing...
for such...an event!
One of our views on our "walk"

My nose is BRIGHT RED from
