There is something about growing your own food...
harvesting it...
and then, blessed to enjoy the bounty of it...

Hyrum and The Rexburg Idaho Temple

One of Garvin's and my goals and truly a dream...
was to see that all of our children would be
endowed in the "House of the Lord"...
Hyrum, on the 14th of October
fulfilled that dream...
We decided to have Hyrum receive his endowment
in the Rexburg Idaho Temple so that some of
his siblings could be there...
Rebekah, Abraham, and Angel were able to be there.
Sarah had made a commitment to her
Relief Society to teach 2 classes prior to Hyrum making the appointment,
so she was unable to attend.
Annie, Abe's wife, and Joel, Rebekah's husband, were able
to be there.  My BEST MISSIONARY companion, Mary Jane Williams,
also, made the endowment session.

"missionary" suits

Angel Moroni.  The angel Moroni depicts both a messenger of the restoration of the gospel and a herald of the Second Coming: "for the Son of Man shall come, and he shall send his angels before him with the great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together the remainder of his elect from the four winds" (JS-M 1:37).

Bright "Fall" colors!
Rebekah...Has more fun with a camera! (smile)
Sarah who would have been there...had it not been for a prior commitment!
And I wonder why...the "Smith" boys...have a hard time taking a decent picture!

Among the Sad News - Happy News!!

Yes indeed! Back by popular demand - Egg Nog is back in stores!!

:) A flavor I have never tried before is out: Pumpkin Spice Nog. Yum!
Healthy? Not really. Delicious? Of course! :)

T-Bone is now in the "Pasture" on High...

Yesterday, T-Bone fulfilled the measure of his creation...
They actually come to the house and slaughter your animals
on the property...Garvin and another friend of Hyrum's
took "videos" during the entire process...
T-Bone - curious what is going on...
Sirloin - on the left - had to come into the pen to be with
his buddy...
 T-Bone looking a bit...wary...
This was the last picture I could take...
I couldn't watch...but, after I heard the shot...
I walked around and saw T-Bone twitching on the ground...
that was hard enough...
but, what really got to me...
was seeing Sirloin go up to his buddy...
lying on the ground...
and putting his head down to touch his friend...
I couldn't watch anymore...
Whenever Sirloin...saw any of us during the day...
He would bawl out...and would continue to bawl...
Hyrum went up to him during the day...and Sirloin seemed
to just want some comfort...
T-Bone - When we first got him...
This is what I will remember...

The Greenway of Life

So... an update from the Orem Peeps here in Utah.
Joel and I are going crazy! Joel picking up shifts at work, balancing me (as we all know is a full-time job), school, Logan and selling himself (plasma-is this not a legalized form of prostitution?) it gets crazy for him. As for me I'm now cleaning apartments (O.M.G. GROSSNESS), doing inspections for the company that kinda laid me off, my calling (which I absolutely LOVE), Logan, and book club (one of my favorite things). And yet we still are finding time for some fun, which is a necessity.
Funny how you make lists of all the things you are doing and its good knowing you're busy, its a fulfilling feeling!
Logan is crawling and pulling himself up and just wrecking havoc! We love it! He is a happy boy and loves being with mom an/or dad. I love this new phase of our lives!
Joel is almost done with school, I see the light at the end of the tunnel. He has already applied to be a PA State Trooper but haven't heard anything back, we still want to head back to the east coast (anywhere) but understand that we might not end up there. I do have a few states that I have nixed and I think the Lord is ok with these states being nixed off our list: Utah (no offense to anyone reading this outside of our family), Idaho (sorry Sarah), and Michigan (known to be the most dangerous state to live in). Idaho, Utah, and Arizona have too many Mormons ;) but we haven't completely nixed AZ. But we still hope to make is back east.
All-in-all we are doing good, going to the temple at least 1 a month, saying our prayers together, and daily scripture reading (either by ourselves or with Logan) help us stick together with dealing with each of our stresses and busy lives. I have been wanting to start a Greenway Blog (but have been too busy to even start one) to help me relieve my stress and vent about nothing but the good things that are happening to help me keep things in perspective and not focus on the crap of life.... :) sorry mom I said the "c" word. haha
We love reading this blog and love hearing from everyone on here and Facebook-I'm still waiting for Rick and Fran to do a post about themselves on here!
