BEFORE and AFTER Projects

There is nothing quite like finishing a

"Before and After" 

Project...

DOWNSTAIRS BASEMENT ENTRY

 

Sorry, I don't have a BEFORE

shot on this one...I did...

but, when my computer crashed...

my pictures went somewhere...just don't know

how to find them...right now...

Garvin tore out the flooring of this entry in the basement...

and re-tiled it, plus the bathroom downstairs.

 TRAILER - "BEFORE"

We were so blessed to be able to purchase this

incredible trailer from a dear couple in

Montana...It was SOLIDLY BUILT...

However, Garvin has wanted to do a few

things to it...and so he did...

They were unloading wood they had cut

down from across the street...

 

 You can see the old wood side frames...old rusted fenders...

and the rusty steel...

Now...the...

"AFTER" TRAILER SHOTS

Garvin has NOT welded in a very long time...

It took him awhile to get his hands working right...

He kept complaining that his HOOD was too OLD...and that

he couldn't see to weld very well.....UNTIL it dawned on him...

that he needed to be WEARING HIS GLASSES to weld, now...

 Adding some finishing touches...

 Had to get a new "Jack" - cause the old one

just broke under the weight of the logs

they had cut...

 Garvin took raw steel...BUILT these NEW FENDERS...

and painted them "Cherry RED"...as you can see...

(they are not hard to miss...smile)

 Inserted new wood...

The only thing he still needs to build...

are new RAMPS for the trailer...(there weren't any) He was, also, able

to lengthened the "width" of the trailer by "7" inches...so he

believes he will be able to drive one of the cars into

this trailer...HE IS VERY PROUD OF THAT!

Grandchildren, Tractor, and Projects

Nothing like...a little land...a tractor...

projects...to keep grandchildren

entertained...

LOVE IT!

During this visit - Rick and Fran Miller were here from 

MISSOURI...and Angel passing through from

KANSAS to new home in WASHINGTON STATE...

Capturing a few moments...

tearing out fence...chopping wood...

and of course...a tractor ride experience...

Ah....wait...a little "gaming"

Hmmm...I think this is backwards?

FIRST WORK...then PLAY???

well...someday...that area will become a garden...

 Nothing like a big pile of wood...

to observe from...

 Rick was NEVER IDLE!

 Hyrum burning off some serious calories...

 Our darling little "Daisy"!

Sisters...Visit...LOVE IT!

I so love it...when my children come and visit...but, even 

more rewarding for me...is when my children

and grandchildren... 

get to visit with each other...

Angel, her children, and mother-in-law...

stopped by our home... on their way to Spokane, Washington...

Jared will begin a new job in Spokane...October 6th...

So excited, for now, they will only be about

7 1/2 hours from us...smile

Keep in mind...Angel had traveled ALL NIGHT - 16

hour drive from Kansas...and is DUE to deliver

her daughter, Ivy, in about 

4 weeks...smile

What would be a visit...without capturing

our little man...Jackson...smile

That One Little Moment...

Sometimes...you get lucky...

and capture a moment

that is simply DELIGHTFUL...

PROJECTS: #2 and #3

Garvin had started a "list" entitled:

"Rick Miller"...

On this "list" were all the PROJECTS we would

involve these dear friends...

So, here is an INCOMPLETE 

Project #2

 There was a "drain" placed near our

basement backdoor...to help any additional 

runoffs from snow or rain...The previous

owner of this house, got FLOODED TWICE...

Our other neighbor, helped the precious owner put in

a "DRAIN"...Garvin hunted down...where the

water went...and found the pipe in our field, BUT,

it was plugged up, etc.

So, Garvin dug out a bigger hole...

cleaned out the mouse nests...

but, wanted to maintain an opening...without 

stuff plugging up the drain pipe...

so...after much pondering...

here is the basic idea...of the "solution"...

60 lb. bags of cement...when wet...

making a cement WALL...

Clever, huh...

 They do this sort of thing in other places...

hopefully...it will work for us...

PROJECT #2

 This is a NOT FUN project...

REMOVING all the blasted "rocks"...

that made "flower beds"?????

Fran discovered...this "Spider and the Fly"...

Remember that little poem?

Interesting story behind this poem...

The Spider and the Fly is a poem by Mary Howitt (1799-1888), published in 1829. The first line of the poem is "'Will you walk into my parlour?' said the Spider to the Fly." The story tells of a cunning Spider who ensnares a naive Fly through the use of seduction and flattery. The poem is a cautionary tale against those who use flattery and charm to disguise their true evil intentions.

Today, we begin PROJECT #3...

 

New PROJECT #1

Rick and Fran Miller came to Idaho

from their home in MISSOURI...to help us with a few

projects around the house...

How many people would do that?

 

PROJECT #1

We had a tree...near our home...a blasted "cotton wood" tree...

that if it fell...it looked like it would most likely

fall upon the house...

SO....we knew it had to COME DOWN...

 Much discussion...

 The tree to be cut down...

 Fran...much to be concerned about...

as you will be able to discern

by the next few photos...

 

 Lots of prayers going on... 

watching these two...

 Our neighbor, Dave, a

former FOREST FIRE

FIGHTER...having cut

many a tree...

came over with his 

wife, Denice...

to lend a hand...

but, soon learned...

to step back...

and let Rick and 

Garvin work out the

details...

 Big Nest - Just hoping nothing

was in it...

 Better view of the size of the tree...

 Garvin used his truck and pulled on the

cable that was attached to the tree...

Falling....

ALMOST to the GROUND...

 Perfect landing...didn't hurt

the fence, either...

 Nest crushed...concern if there had 

been anything in it...

 There was a nest within a nest...but...

nothing was in it...thank goodness...

 Nice "sitting" spot, now...smile

EVERYONE ONE did their part...
